Artist Biography

Tori “Torsion” Howard is a visual wordsmith and dancer currently based in Chicago. Originally from Ypsilanti, Michigan, he is naturally curious about people in both the US & international places that radiate energy and great character. Through an honest and straightforward approach to shooting, his street photography revolves around the idea of capturing the everyday and the ephemeral moments that happen around us at all times.

He captures and collects these random yet defining moments of humanity throughout daily life. He grew into this style so seamlessly because of its rawness and the opportunity it creates to capture subjects in their truest form, whether they know he’s talking their photo or not.

Since his first solo exhibit presented by Era Galleries in 2015, Tori has spent his time honing in on and creating a series of candid photographs based on his cultural and behavioral studies from around the world. This passion allows him to travel and connect with people from all walks of life in order to share their stories. These stories beg the overlooked fact that we all live in our own realities, yet still, we are all part of the same machine.
